Richard Davies spent thirty years as a building designer trying to draw straight lines in a universe that clearly preferred a mess.

It started with a pigeon.

The Naked Universe grew from a simple suspicion: perhaps life is not failing to follow the plan. Perhaps the glorious, inconvenient chaos is the plan. The books turn big questions about love, identity, memory and meaning into everyday cosmic comedy — with traffic, missing keys, a leaky bucket of memory and the occasional red duck.

The vision.

This is becoming more than a shelf of books. It is a place to read, listen, laugh, take the Splatter quiz, wear the evidence and eventually join a community of people who would rather surf the wave than pretend they control the ocean.

No gurus. No Lamborghini shouting. Just honest conversation, useful tools, weekly coffee and a universe roomy enough for three trillion different tales.

A curious bloke, a laptop and GPT.

Richard is not a software company pretending to be a person. He is an author, former building designer and tech-savvy hobbyist who arrived with folders full of books, duck artwork, half-finished merchandise and a willingness to ask the next question.

The new Splatter site is a practical collaboration between Richard and OpenAI tools including ChatGPT and Codex. Richard supplied the story, judgement, artwork and gloriously untidy ambition; AI helped organise, code, test and publish it. It is a working example of what a determined newcomer can build without pretending the machine did the dreaming.
